Celebrating 100 Years of Leica, this limited edition D-Lux 8 Digital Camera pays homage to the shape and materials of Leica's history, including the M11 rangefinder and the original Leica from 1925. The minimalistic redesign features leather-textured armoring and a nickel-colored finish on the lens, lens cap, and controls while omitting the thumb grip, red logo, and camera model name. Instead, the hot shoe cover has a subtle black "100" logo designating the camera's commemorative centennial.

The first D-Lux model to feature DNG file support, the camera couples a 3" 1.84m-dot TFT LCD with a 2.36MP OLED EVF. A built-in eye sensor allows the camera to automatically switch between the LCD panel and the viewfinder.
