Travel kits become frustrating when they are built around imaginary edge cases. If most of the trip is streets, food, people and architecture, carrying three heavy lenses “just in case” can cost more photographs than it creates.

Small does not have to mean fixed-lens.

If a fixed 35–40mm-equivalent view feels restrictive but a full travel bag feels excessive, a small APS-C body with one compact f/2.8 zoom is the middle path: still light enough to carry, but flexible enough for a wider market scene, food, people and detail.

Count the photographs you miss, not the lenses you do not own.

If lens changes interrupt the day, range may matter more than maximum aperture. If you always shoot the same field of view, a fixed-lens camera can simplify the trip. If you enjoy carrying the kit you already own, do not manufacture an upgrade problem.
