Capture ultra-smooth video on the go with the FDR-AX43A UHD 4K Handycam from Sony. This compact camcorder features a built-in gimbal with Balanced Optical SteadyShot image stabilization and a low-light Exmor R CMOS image sensor to produce crisp, high-quality UHD 4K video or 16.6MP still photos. Record up to UHD 4K video at 24 or 30 fps using Sony's XAVC S codec at rates up to 100 Mb/s or up to 50 Mb/s 1080p HD video. Fast, intelligent autofocus tracks your subjects while keeping them sharp, and the ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* zoom lens features a 20x optical/30x digital zoom in 4K and up to 250x digital zoom in HD.

The FDR-AX43A's Dual Video mode enables you to record MP4 movies simultaneously with your XAVC S 4K video, perfect for playback on your phone and faster uploading to your network or the web. The Dual Video Mode also enables the use of the Highlight Movie Maker, a one-button function that creates a highlight reel of your footage you can quickly play back at an event. A 4K time-lapse mode can be used to condense your adventures or capture stunning nature or atmospheric sequences.

For monitoring your shots from behind the camera or from the front when using the camera for vlogging, the 3" 921K tilting touchscreen LCD is ideal for selfie-style shooting and for all other shot composition options. Simply flip the screen to its open position and power is automatically turned on, giving you access to the camera's settings menu for fast and easy operation.

For large-screen playback, use the HDMI output port for connecting a larger screen. You can even 'trim' a selected portion of a 4K video or image frame to fill the screen with Full HD quality. For enhanced connectivity, the FDR-AX43A is Wi-Fi enabled, offering one-touch remote control and sharing using your compatible smartphone.

The FDR-AX43A camcorder features a range of automatic image and audio options for easy point-and-shoot operation as well as enhanced manual controls that offer greater creative freedom for advanced users. An assignable ring on the front of the camcorder can be assigned to control of zoom, focus, exposure, iris, shutter speed, exposure, or white balance. A rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack is included for powering the camcorder, along with an AC adapter, micro-HDMI cable, and micro-USB cable.

The CMOS sensor provides enhanced sensitivity for capturing high-quality images with less noise under dark as well as bright shooting conditions.

The FDR-AX43A's integrated gimbal with Balanced Optical SteadyShot image stabilization cushions your images against shaking and jarring, even while running or zoomed in.

The ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens features a wide 35mm equivalent focal length of 26.8mm (in movie mode) to fit more into your shots and a 20x optical zoom range in UHD 4K. Multicoating reduces unwanted reflections, ghosting, and flares. To get you closer to the action, the zoom range can be extended using Clear Image Zoom of 30x/40x (4K/HD) using Clear Image zoom.

The Fast Intelligent AF uses accurate contrast-detection autofocus to minimize lens motion, predicting the AF range, and accelerating lens drive, so you can capture more fleeting moments.

During AVCHD recording, a 5.1 channel built-in microphone captures active sounds coming from five directions, so you can experience your home movies the way you experienced them while recording. Level meters on the LCD panel provide visual monitoring of each channel's levels.

Note: The 5.1 channel audio is only available when recording in AVCHD, so it is not available for UHD 4K recording, which uses the XAVC S codec.

The microphone is designed to gather clear sound from five directions, making it possible to faithfully reproduce audio with clearly defined separation.

Shoot in 1080p at 120 fps and bring it into your editing software to produce high-resolution slow-motion footage. This is useful for reviewing, in greater slow-motion detail, sports and everyday action that can occur too quickly in real time for you to see clearly.

The FDR-AX43A records 4K and HD movies in the XAVC S format, which uses MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 for video compression and linear PCM for audio compression, while saving files in an MP4 wrapper, which allows for extensive record times and easy editing. Additionally, you can choose to record HD in AVCHD (ideal for HDTV and Blu-ray disc burning) or MP4 (ideal for sharing over the internet).

Record two movies at the same time, one in the maximum-quality XAVC S or AVCHD format and another in MP4 format. This gives you a small file ready for instant sharing, plus a professional-grade file for further editing.

Capture 4K still images continuously over an extensive period of time at a selected constant interval from each shot to the next, edit the entire sequence of still images in postproduction, and enjoy playback of that series of images as a time-lapse movie.
