400mm focal length is not the rule.

Singapore GP's 2026 terms list a camera with telephoto/zoom lenses of combined physical length over 300mm as prohibited, explicitly including the lens, hood and camera body. The number printed on the lens describes something else.

The misconception to remove first

Focal length and physical length are different measurements.

Combined physical length of body + telephoto/zoom lens + hood.

So both shortcuts are unsafe: “my lens reaches 400mm, therefore it is banned” and “my lens is only 200mm, therefore it must fit.” The exact assembled configuration is what needs checking.

Altech measurement method

Measure the exact setup the customer intends to carry.

Singapore GP states the combined-length restriction but does not publish Altech's exact endpoints, tolerance or zoom-state procedure. The method below is our conservative, repeatable approach so every result is auditable.

Canon RF 100–400 note: the ET-74B hood is optional, not supplied. A test record must explicitly say no hood or name the actual optional hood used.

01Record exact body + lens SKU.
02Record actual hood / no-hood configuration.
03Mount the setup normally.
04If zoom extends, use its longest physical state.
05Measure rear-most body point to front-most included point.
06Photograph whole setup, scale and both endpoints.
07Record date, tester, measurement and test ID.
